"Every day my inbox gets flooded with a myriad of press releases ranging from the ridiculous to the juicy to the completely obnoxious and irrelevant. But from time to time, a little diamond in the rough, a gem amongst the spam emerges from the depths of Gmail which just goes to reiterate that no matter how big the press release deluge, you should still take the time to go through them all--just in case.
And thus it was with Ellie Lavelle, a young LA-based designer who pinged me the lookbook for their debut collection. And I friggin love it. Shredded tees, chunky metallic trousers and futuristic tailored separates, grunge glam in every sense of the word, but with a distinct LA flavor. That is to say, grunge a la NYC is resplendant with black, leather and smokey eye, grunge a la LA has a dash of the softer side, muted tones and loads of metallics. This is Hollywood we're talking about after all, everything has to come with a side of glitz, no matter how small the portion.
While the garments are not exactly scaling any new feats of design, the edgy yet feminine, rock glam 70's rock n' roll moment channeled by Lavelle is exactly my cup of tea and I'd rock every piece in the lookbook.
The brand is the brainchild of BFFs Carissa Simons and Lynsey Longo who have been friends since childhood and attended FIDM together.
